as you may know, i love themeless puzzles and that is why they are the only thing i post on this blog. this puzzle first started as an attempt to [add seven-paragraph-long essay about every entry that i managed to fit into this puzzle in a vague enough way that it doesn't spoil the puzzle but specifically enough that i can justify writing this blurb]. luckily i was able to [imply i'm a coding god]

today's puzzle was inspired by (and submitted to!) my favorite crossword publisher "the morning brew".  tony howell a.k.a. the editor a.k.a. "bae" has graciously lifted submission guidelines from the nyt and instead of paying in money (which nobody needs lol), he is paying in brewneck sweatshirt, valued at 35 dollars. finally!!! i've been waiting to get my hands on one of these.

i have submitted this puzzle to coby three times. maybe more :)
